United Tribes Technical College held on to secure their 20th win of the seson in the regular season finale at Williston State College 72-68. The game started slow and Williston controlled much of the first half, but the Tetons went to the locker room at halftime clinging only to a 34-32 lead. The Thunderbirds came out for the second half focused on the defensive end of the floor and went on a 13-0 run for a 45-34 lead. The Thunderbirds maintained their lead for most of the second half, but as has been the case in recent games the Tetons slowly chipped away and got as close as 63-60. The Thunderbirds would make free throws down the stretch and hold on to win 72-68.
Shayden Keplin led the Thunderbirds with 30 points. Rob McClain had his second consecutive 20 rebound game finishing with 21 rebounds and 13 points. Aslo reaching double figures were Jacob Martin with 11 points and Sam Pendleton finished with 10 points and 7 assists.
The Thunderbirds will host Dakota College Bottineau on Wednesday February 28th at 7:30pm in the Region XIII Semifinal Game.
